This ‘kitten’ comes from the Santo Giordano vineyard of southern Carneros. This is a beautiful vineyard of sangiovese, where cold winds and fog ensure that the fruit is lean and lovely. Our rose is 100% sangiovese, Mike Barber’s favorite grape and the perfect, bright varietal for rose production. The grapes were crushed after harvest and left to sit on the skins for 3 hours before being pressed and fermented in stainless steel.
This is a gorgeous summer sipper, with flavors of wild strawberry and jasmine aromas. It is dry, but dangerously drinkable. While not as heavy in crop as the monstrous 2018 vintage, 2019 was another cold year with a long hang time before harvest. This gave the wine wonderfully rich layers of red fruit flavors while exemplifying the beautifully bright capability of the sangiovese grape. This kitten is going to be everyone’s favorite!
